STIR CRAZY TAPS PATRONS TO SUPPORT UNICEF PROJECT: Clean Water Program is Latest Item on Stir Crazy Menus – One Week Only

Mar 10,2008

Beginning Sunday, March 16 through Saturday, March 22, all Stir Crazy restaurants in seven states will invite customers to wash down their favorite Asian foods with a minimum donation of $1 for the tap water they would normally receive for free. For every dollar raised, a child will have clean drinking water for 40 days.

Launched last year by UNICEF in conjunction with New York City restaurants, the Tap Project takes its program nationwide with efforts to provide fresh drinking options to the world’s one billion-plus population lacking access to clean water.  Hundreds of restaurants across the country will participate, including the Stir Crazy locations in Illinois, Missouri, Ohio, Michigan, New York, Indiana and Florida, by bringing attention and donations for UNICEF’s clean water programs.

“Clean drinking water is a luxury in some parts of the world, “said Peter Nolan, Vice President of Marketing. “We know that Stir Crazy guests will be eager to donate to a program that seems so simple yet can literally save thousands of lives.”

Upon ordering at Stir Crazy, members of the wait staff will distribute “Customer Donation Cards” explaining the Tap Project and options for donating to the worthy cause.  Participating in the Tap Project helps educate others while actively contributing to improved water and sanitation conditions for children and their families around the world.  Donations greater than one dollar are welcome.

Stir Crazy is open for lunch and dinner seven days a week.  Stir Crazy’s popular and extensive menu features everything from traditional favorites like Pad Thai and Teriyaki Chicken to specialty dishes such as Wasabi Salmon, Japanese Steak and Fuji Tuna Salad. Guests can count on the freshest, healthiest fare: all menu items are prepared from scratch with no MSG and with minimal oil.
